"today in the bay's" arturo santiago is live in san jose with what the city is planning to do about it and when they're planning to do it. arturo, good morning. >> reporter: the situation out here has not improved in the last few weeks. the population of the tent city in fact has swelled to more than 100 people and the city of san jose now has plans to move the encampment out the first week in march. now the site is located along spring street between taylor and heading streets. it's in a large grassy field near the guadalupe river park. the tents are spread out and clustered around trees on the land. the tent city started to grow back in january after state lands along the guadalupe river were cleaned up by caltrans and that displaced the homeless camping in those areas. mayor chuck reed says the people are trespassing here and there are no sanitary facilities and city cannot have people living i

homeless encampment in san jose is getting bigger and now the city gearing up to clear everyone out. the city says at least 100 people are now living in the makeshift tent city on spring street. over the timeline again, mason and filbert shut down. the city hopes to have mason back open within a couple of hours. the cable car line could be longer. in the meantime they are going to have a bus shuttle to make up for this part of service that can't be running because of the debris on the line. filbert will be shut down for hours. that's where a lot of digging will be taking place. filbert at mason will be shut down to late morning, early afternoon. reporting live in san francisco. bob riddell, "today in the bay." >> happening now, day two of the bond hearing for oscar pistorius wrapping up in a south african courtroom. a day filled with more tears and deet about the valentine's day shooting that killed his girlfriend. the prosecution now pushing for premeditated murder while the defense said it was a mistake. marla has the details. we're hearing the prosecution started the day with a witness statement. >> that's right. as you mentioned we are just learning the bail hearing is wrapping up now without a decision from the magistrate so pistorius will spend another night in jail.

alert a fatal accident we're watching in redwood city. we are continuing to get some more details from chp. the road is closed right there at bayshore road and seaport boulevard so this may impact traffic heading into the port of redwood city. we understand it was a solo car accident. the person hit a fire hydrant and went through a fence. the person killed was ejected from the vehicle. so we're sending a news crew to the scene. we'll bring you a live update from that area of redwood city very shortly. in the meantime outside here's a live look at the golden gate bridge. everywhere else is "friday light" across the bay area. no other big hot spots on your major roads. so here's a live look at the milpitas drive westbound 237, flowing nicely out of milpitas towards sunnyvale and now let's look at the bay bridge where we know folks may be heading into san francisco if you are getting a head start. so far not a lot of company on the road across the upper deck. that's a check of your "timesaver traffic." back to you guys. >> i'll take it, liz. tha

in redwood city. police say this happened near east bay shore road off highway 101. initially redwood city police shut down traffic in both directions of east bay shore road during this investigation. also some breaking news here to tell you about from san jose where at least one person is injured after a car crashes right into a bta bus on tully road and capital expressway. we understand that the intersection has now been blocked off for more on this and a look at the traffic surrounding this, let's check out things with mike inouye. >> good morning. this is another chopper live shot over that intersection basically it's at capital expressway and tully where there are two centers here. folks familiar with it, it's a large intersection. it looks like most of the activity is off to the shoulder. center of your screen there is a car that looks like it's the one that hit that vta express. that motor coach. it is very heavily damaged as far as that front passenger side goes. no details on specifics for the injuries. we just know that one person was taken from the scene. there's that vta expres
